LA GRANDE — Grande Ronde Hospital (GRH) today announced that its Home Health Services was named as one of the Top 100 of the 2017 HomeCare Elite® in the nation. The Elite® award is recognition for the top 25 percent of home health agencies in the United States.

GRH Home Health Services has the further distinction of being one of only two HomeCare Elite® agencies in the state of Oregon to earn that ranking. GRH Home Health and Hospice Department manager Julie Parks, RN, received the good news last week.

“I am so proud of our staff– it is a great honor for us. We already believe we deliver the best of care and know that our patients are in very good hands, but this recognition underscores the passion we feel for what we do every single day. Along with the recognition for Hospice we received this past July, 2017 has been a great year for us,” she said.

In the United States, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has a designated 9,064 agencies. Of those, 2,268 ranked as HomeCare Elite (25%). Only 13 of the 2,268 elite are in Oregon and of those 13, one made it into the top 500, and two made it into the top 100 – one of those being GRH Home Health.

Doug Romer, Executive Director of Patient Care Services credits Julie Parks and her incredible team with the agency’s ability to achieve recognition as one of the HomeCare Elite.

Our Joint Commission accredited home care staff provide excellent patient care and clearly are some of the most compassionate caregivers I have the privilege with which to work,  said Romer.

For the past 12 years, HomeCare Elite has annually identified the top 25 percent of agencies and highlighted the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. The HomeCare Elite® ranking is developed by ABILITY® Network, a leading information technology company helping providers and payers simplify the administrative and clinical complexities of healthcare; and sponsored by DecisionHealth, publisher of Home Health Line and the Complete Home Health ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Coding Manual.

“The team at Grande Ronde Hospital Home Care Services has demonstrated an impressive ability to deliver great patient care,” said Christine Lang, senior director for ABILITY Network. “This is due to the skill and dedication of their clinical professionals, as well as the proficiency and efforts of their quality team tracking, measuring and interpreting the data that supports the delivery of care. Together, they have earned this recognition as one of the top 100 home care agencies in the country.”

“Congratulations to those leading agencies that earned a spot on the list of the top 100 HomeCare Elite,” said Marci Heydt, senior content manager for DecisionHealth. “Grande Ronde Hospital’s Home Care Services and its peers have worked hard to improve quality outcomes, which is increasingly difficult as home health agencies faced increased regulatory burdens each year.”

HomeCare Elite agencies are determined by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, best practices implementation, patient experience (HHCAHPS), quality improvement and consistency, and financial health. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least three outcomes in Home Health Compare.
