Hospital Welcomes New Board Member
Stephanie Miller

Grande Ronde Hospital Board of Trustees confirmed its newest member during the October 2012 Board meeting, welcoming Stephanie Miller, who will fill an unexpired term vacancy through 2014.

“We are extremely pleased to have Stephanie step in and join the Board,” said current Board Chair Burr Betts. “Stephanie brings a fresh perspective and great enthusiasm for community service to the board.”

A self-described people person, Miller agrees she was most likely approved by the existing board members for her enthusiasm, and her history of community involvement.

“Being on the Grande Ronde Hospital Board of Trustees is an honor. I see it as a great opportunity to give back to my community. I am excited to learn more about the changes facing the healthcare industry and contribute all I can to guide the future of one of our community’s greatest assets,” Miller says.

Miller works as a program coordinator for the treatment court program for the Union County Circuit Court – a job she finds very rewarding.

“It’s really great when you see someone who can still benefit from a program like ours and put their life back together,” Miller explains.

Miller moved to La Grande as a student attending Eastern Oregon University from Washington State. She met her future husband Earl Miller here, settled down to stay, and the couple now has three children, ages, 8, 5 and 4. The family spends as much time as they can outdoors – they love to ski, mountain and road bike.

The Grande Ronde Hospital Board of Trustees is composed of 11 voting members comprised of nine representatives from the community, the Hospital’s Medical Staff President and the Hospital’s President/CEO.

Each Trustee from the community at large is nominated by the Board’s Governance Committee according to Hospital policy and elected by the Board of Trustees. Trustees are elected to serve three-year terms with a maximum of nine years of service. Trustees need not be residents of the State of Oregon or of Union County.

These representatives collectively comprise the governing board of Grande Ronde Hospital, Inc. It is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees to set policy and direction for the organization. The Grande Ronde Hospital Board of Trustees meets monthly, as well as at other times as needed, with the exception of the months of July and August.
