Hospital President and CEO Jim Mattes chairs state hospital association

Grande Ronde Hospital (GRH) President and CEO Jim Mattes has officially stepped into his role as Board Chair for the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS) 2016 Board of Trustees. The announcement was made in a press release by OAHHS released December 30, 2015.

Mattes was elected to the OAHHS Board in June 2014, serving as Chair-Elect and as committee chair of the Public Policy Committee.

"A leadership role at the state level is an opportunity to give greater voice to the crucial role Critical Access Hospitals play in improving health care in our local communities," said Mattes, when asked about his dedication to serve at the state level.

Mattes has been president and CEO of Grande Ronde Hospital since 1984. Prior to joining the hospital, he served as a hospital CEO in Lincoln City and Nyssa. He has the distinction of being the longest-serving hospital CEO in Oregon.

His tenure in our community has been marked by steady growth; including a significant increase in employees, $52 million increase in net worth, and the elimination of long-term debt; as well as three major construction projects, and several remodels that have expanded and improved the hospital. This includes the addition of 17 new services and departments.
