21st Annual Grande Ronde Amateur Golf Tournament Supports the Purchase of Knee and Hip Replacement Tools

La Grande – Sixty-seven golfers from around the region converged for the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation’s 21st Annual Grande Ronde Amateur Golf Tournament.  The tournament included 36-holes of individual stroke play at the La Grande Country Club on September 11th through September 13th under near perfect conditions.

This year’s tournament, endorsed by corporate sponsors Legacy Auto Group and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Eastern Oregon, crowned Mark Grigg of Fruitland, Idaho the overall Men’s Champion with a gross score of 147 and Cally Goss the overall Women’s Champion with a score of 162.

On Sunday, following regular play, a field of 30 golfers gathered to compete in the six-hole alternate shot Sole Survivor.  A large crowd of spectators watched Dwayne Craft and Troy Phillips persevere to win the 2015 Team Sole Survivor competition while Max Reinland of Walla Walla, Washington prevailed to win the individual Sole Survivor round.

Will Simons, Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation Manager, praised Tournament Chair, Julie Hickerson, the La Grande Country Club staff, the tournament sponsors, golfers, hospital Foundation Board members and staff, and Tournament volunteers for contributing to the success of the Amateur.

“It takes a lot of planning and support to hold such a top-notch tournament.  We had a great tournament and all the dollars raised from it go to support the health care needs of our community,” said Simons.

This year, 100% of the proceeds are dedicated towards the purchase of knee and hip replacement tools for the hospital’s orthopedic surgeons.  The new tools will further enhance the patient care experience at Grande Ronde Hospital by providing the best equipment for the Surgical Services Department.
